What A Month!

This past month Woolwich Community Services has been  buzzing with excitement around the Youth Centre's 10th Birthday Celebration, the Dig In Food Drive and the Wild Woolwich Challenge.  A big thanks to everyone who has contributed to these initiatives!

Youth Centre 10th Birthday!

Youth Centre Staff and members hosted a free BBQ with cake in order to celebrate 10 years in the community. The event was a huge success with 40 plus people in attendance.

Don Harloff, Executive Directer at WCS took a moment to thank the generous donors who are making financial contributions to the program. On site for this special presentation was Ron and Jill Martin, Brian Kamm from KW United Way, Mayor Todd Cowan representing Woolwich Township and Jennifer Astley-Kinsey from the Astley Family Foundation.

DIG IN Food Drive

The DIG IN Food Drive raised 2,270 pounds of food for the Woolwich Food Bank and had $1,354 in cash donated. A large chunk of that money came from Chemtura who was very generous in donating $1,000 for the Food Bank. The money raised will assist WCS is purchasing fresh milk, eggs, bread, margarine, fruit and vegetables for Food Bank recipients. In 2011 WCS received 2,745 pounds of food and $231.25 in cash.

WCS is very happy with the food received from the event and the previously bare food bank cupboards are once again filled with food! Thank you to our community
